Master of Nursing (Research) for 2010

Course overview

This course offers studies in advanced nursing to prepare candidates for positions of leadership roles and positions of responsibility in the health care system. It is a 100 per cent research degree for which candidates are required to submit a major thesis of 70,000 words for examination. Specialist areas of research include community nursing, nurse education, acute care, palliative care, ethical and moral issues, legal issues, rural health care practice, chronic illness, midwifery, mental health, nursing informatics, gerontics and health services operations management. Graduates are often employed in a wide range of senior positions in health care and in educational settings.

Minimum entrance requirements

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent with honours 1 or 2A, and at least five years clinical experience and/or a relevant postgraduate qualification, as well as relevant registration (for example, Division 1 with the Nurses Board of Victoria).
