Course overviewThe course provides an insight into the workings of the media and offers specialised skills in describing and analysing the organisation, processes and the uses and effects of traditional and new communications. Students develop an understanding of the practical operations of the media, the social and cultural dimensions of mass communications, and the audiences, producers and policy-makers. Students complete a major in communication, a minor in another arts discipline and a first-year sequence in visual culture. They may also complete a specialisation chosen from advertising, journalism, multimedia, public relations or tourism.
