Why study Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Commerce?

Who said creativity and commerce don't mix? Place yourself in high demand and fill the void of musicians with a solid understanding of how business and the economy function.

To be the best, you need to surround yourself with high-achievers. Our Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music is consistently ranked among the best music schools in Australia. We attract individuals like Paul Grabowsky, the esteemed Australian pianist, jazz musician, conductor and composer, who has taken up a Vice-Chancellor's Professorial Fellowship in the School of Music from 2012. Paul, with his experience managing major international festivals, would be the perfect sounding board if you are interested in using your double degree to pursue a career in event management.

You'll receive one-on-one instrumental teaching to develop your solo and ensemble performance skills, and you'll have a number of opportunities to study overseas. For example, jazz and popular studies students travel to Italy and New York in alternate years to study and perform with world-renowned musicians such as James Morrison, Claire Bowditch, Don Burrows, Vince Jones, George Garzoni and Aaron Goldberg.

The School of Business and Economics, where you will be studying your commerce degree, has global connections that would astound you. From the US to Europe and Asia, we have a range of formidable partnerships with organisations like Peking University in China and the University of Navarra in Spain.

Our commerce degree will develop your capacity for logical analysis and conceptual thinking, and give you the skills and knowledge to manage public and private enterprises. It will counterbalance your music degree perfectly.
