Our degree in performing arts can help you reach the heights you aspire to. Whether you want to work on stage, behind the curtains or in administration, the broad nature of our degree will help you find your niche.
You will find work in areas such as arts management, event coordination, music and drama performance (stage, film and television), production, direction and arts administration.
What do Academy Award-winning film producer Eva Orner, comedian Charlie Pickering, and playwright David Williamson have in common? They're all performing arts heavyweights who got their start with Monash. Walk in their footsteps with the most comprehensive theatre and performance program offered by any university in Australia.
At Monash, we believe in learning by doing. As part of your degree you'll take part in cooperative productions which stretch your creative limits by combining two or more performing art forms - like musical theatre, dance-drama productions or sound sculpture exhibitions.
Benefit from fantastic facilities - our Performing Arts Centre contains a recital hall, drama theatre, music technology studios, an Early Music Room, an Asian Orchestras Room and a suite of practice studios.
And be inspired by staff members like Dr Jane Montgomery Griffiths, who has been invited to participate in PlayWriting Australia's 2012 National Script Workshop - a prestigious invitation giving her the chance to disseminate her research at a national level with industry professionals.
To polish your skills you can take part in the Monash Uni Student Theatre, and various productions with the Monash University Academy of Performing Arts.

Performance students explore a range of different performance areas including production practice and investigation, contemporary performance culture, and performance writing.
Theatre focuses on the past, present and future of performance. It combines theoretical frameworks with the practical study of key themes, questions and practices. Theatre provides students with the tools to think critically, preparing them for a future where theatre and performance increasingly cross genres, cultures, geographic boundaries and modes of artistic expression.
