Monash is the only university in Australia to offer this combined program that allows students to graduate with both the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, and the degree of Bachelor of Laws.
The prestigious program was designed to accommodate the growing area of medical law and the need for graduates with a firm grounding in both professions.
Students are able to enter the program only after achieving a credit average in the first year of the Monash medical degree and attending a selection interview.
Graduates can pursue all the options open to both medicine/surgery and law - including the potential to complete further specialised medical and legal study - but they are ideally placed to take up specialised careers in areas of medico-legal matters, forensic medicine and other related areas.
