Why study Bachelor of Music?

To be the best, surround yourself with high-achievers. Our Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music is consistently ranked among the best music schools in Australia. And we've handpicked your mentors from the best in the business.

Tutors and lecturers have studied at leading overseas institutions like the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Manhattan School of Music in New York, and even our new Vice-Chancellor's Professorial Fellow in the School of Music is an industry heavyweight. An esteemed Australian pianist, jazz musician, conductor and composer, Paul Grabowsky is known for recording and touring with jazz stars like Chet Baker, Branford Marsalis, Joe Lovano and Paul Motian.

You'll receive one-on-one instrumental teaching to develop your solo and ensemble performance skills. You'll have a number of opportunities to study overseas. For example, jazz and popular studies students travel to Italy and New York in alternate years to study and perform with world-renowned musicians such as James Morrison, Claire Bowditch, Don Burrows, Vince Jones, George Garzoni and Aaron Goldberg.

You will also benefit from fantastic facilities. Our Performing Arts Centre contains a recital hall, drama theatre, music technology studios, an Early Music Room, an Asian Orchestras Room and a suite of practice studios (with quality pianos).
