Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance) / Bachelor of Laws for 2010

Course overview

This double degree is ideal for those seeking a career in the banking and finance industry focusing on legal aspects of the sector. The Monash law degree will teach you the concepts, procedures and reasoning surrounding the Australian legal system, as well as a range of universal skills such as problem solving, presentation techniques and analytical skills. You will undertake a number of compulsory units including criminal law, administrative law, property law and torts and also choose several elective units allowing you to focus on a specific area of law, or undertake units from different legal disciplines so you can gain a broad understanding of issues across the legal spectrum.

The business degree allows you to complete major and minor sequences in banking and finance by studying units such as investments and portfolio management, money and capital markets and treasury management.

As part of this degree, you can also choose law related elective units which complement your business studies, such as Australian banking law, advanced taxation law, regulation of financial products and markets and shareholders' rights and remedies.
