This course is designed to prepare graduates from a range of disciplines to become primary school teachers. Students should form a broad conceptual understanding of the field of education and will engage in a range of on-campus and off-campus activities.
Students gain an understanding of curriculum development and the significance of the key learning areas taught in primary schools, and knowledge about child development underlying professional practice. The course includes the successful completion of 50 days of placement in schools.
This course, equivalent to 1.25 years of study, is completed in one calendar year. Fees are calculated at one and a quarter times the annual average fee.
Students will acquire the skills that will effectively allow them to plan and deliver educational programs for children in primary schools.
Following registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), graduates are eligible to teach in Victorian primary schools and related teaching services.

Successful graduates may decide to continue their studies, and pursue a Master of Education or another relevant postgraduate qualification.
Graduates of this program will qualify for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), the statutory authority for the regulation and promotion of the teaching profession in Victoria. The VIT registers teachers working in Victorian government, Catholic and independent schools. Like other professions occupying positions of trust and responsibility, teachers are required to be registered in order to practise their profession. Test scores must not be more than two years old.
