Course overview
This course is designed to prepare graduates from a range of disciplines to become primary school teachers. Students should form a broad conceptual understanding of the field of education and will engage in a range of on-campus and off-campus activities.
Students gain an understanding of curriculum development and the significance of the key learning areas taught in primary schools, and knowledge about child development underlying professional practice. The course includes the successful completion of 50 days of placement in schools.
This course, equivalent to 1.25 years of study, is completed in one calendar year. Fees are calculated at one and a quarter times the annual average fee.

Career outlook
Students will acquire the skills that will effectively allow them to plan and deliver educational programs for children aged 5-12 years. Graduates are eligible for employment as primary school teachers in the government, Catholic and independent school systems in Victoria. For interstate and overseas positions, applicants are advised to check with local authorities.
