Entry requirements

Minimum entrance requirements

Equivalent Australian Year 12.

Minimum entrance requirements for non-school-leavers

Places will not be offered to non-school applicants in the MBBS course. Non-school leaver applicants should consider investigating the Monash University graduate medical program at the Gippsland campus.

VCE prerequisites

Units 3 and 4 a study score of at least 35 in English (ESL) or 30 in any other English, and a study score of at least 30 in chemistry.

International Baccalaureate subject prerequisites

English and Chemistry at a minimum of five at standard level or four at higher level.

Special application requirements

LOCAL APPLICANTS

Applicants must sit the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT). Registration forms must be submitted to UMAT at ACER in early June. For further information contact the UMAT Officer at ACER (03) 9277 5746, (03) 8508 7643; email umat@acer.edu.au; web site http://umatweb.acer.edu.au/. The next test will be held in July 2010. Short-listed applicants are required to attend an interview in November/December and will be notified by phone or mail. Invitation to attend an interview will depend on the applicants UMAT score.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

International VCE or interstate Yr 12 applicants who are onshore MUST apply through VTAC and must sit the International Student Admissions Test (ISAT) before 28th October 2009 (information regarding ISAT to be obtained from ACER at www.isat.acer.edu.au), and if invited to do so must attend an interview at Monash Clayton during November/December 2009 (notified by phone or mail). Invitation to attend an interview will depend on the applicants ISAT score.

Other onshore international Medicine applicants need to apply directly to Monash International Recruitment Services (/www.monash.edu/study/international ) by 30th of September 2009 and sit for the ISAT by 28th October 2009.

Offshore international Medicine applicants need to apply directly to Monash International Recruitment Services (/www.monash.edu/study/international ) by the 12th of June 2009 and sit for ISAT by the 21st of May 2009.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

On enrolment a medical certificate specifying the student's current health and immunisation status is required. Students will also be asked to obtain a National Police Certificate (annual requirement) and a Working With Children check on enrolment in the program. A preference for Medicine/Surgery must appear in the initial VTAC application for applicants to be eligible for consideration. Applicants must notify the Faculty Office of changes to their address or telephone details. Only applicants who have listed a preference with VTAC for Medicine/Surgery by the late closing date of 13 November 2009 will be eligible. All interviews will be scheduled and most are completed before the change of preference date.
