Graduate Course Levels

Graduate Certificate

Entrance level: normally a bachelor degree.
Duration: one standard semester full-time equivalent.
Articulation: to graduate diplomas or masters degrees with a coursework emphasis.

Graduate Diploma

Entrance level: normally a bachelor degree, graduate certificate or faculty certificate.
Duration: two standard semesters full-time equivalent.
Articulation: to masters degrees with a coursework emphasis.

Postgraduate Certificate

Entrance level: normally a bachelor degree in same or related discipline/field of study.
Duration: one standard semester full-time equivalent.
Articulation: to postgraduate diplomas and masters degrees with both a research and coursework emphasis involving the development of cumulative, sequential, specialist discipline knowledge.

Postgraduate Diplomas

Entrance level: normally a bachelor degree or postgraduate certificate in same or related discipline/field of study.
Duration: two semesters full-time equivalent.
Articulation: to masters degrees with both a research and coursework emphasis involving the development of cumulative, sequential, specialist discipline knowledge.

Master (Honours)

Entrance level: normally an honours bachelor degree or equivalent with a major study in the same or related discipline/field of study.
Duration: two semesters full-time equivalent.
Articulation: to a PhD degree.

Master by Coursework

Entrance level: normally a relevant bachelor degree or equivalent.
Duration: two standard semesters full-time equivalent when entering with a relevant four-year undergraduate degree or three semesters full-time equivalent when entering with a relevant three-year bachelor degree.

Professional Master by Coursework

Entrance level: normally a bachelor degree and work experience.
Duration: two standard semesters full-time equivalent.

Master by Research

Entrance level: normally an honours bachelor degree (IIA or above) or equivalent with a major study in the same or related discipline/field of study.
Duration: one year of full-time study or equivalent.
Articulation: to a PhD degree.

Professional Doctorate

Entrance level: normally an honours bachelor degree (IIA or above) in the same or cognate field with relevant professional experience or a relevant masters degree with a one-third research component.
Duration: minimum two years, maximum four years of full-time study or equivalent.

Doctor of Philosophy

Entrance level: normally an honours bachelor degree (IIA or above) or equivalent with a major study in the same or related discipline/field of study or a master degree with a significant research component.
Duration: minimum two years, maximum four years of full-time study or equivalent.

Higher Doctorate

Entrance level: a substantial contribution to research in the field over an extended period following a bachelor honours degree or research master degree.
Duration: submission of collected published works. No enrolment required.
