Debts to Monash Residential Services

MRS will issue monthly invoices to all residents. The invoice is for the current month's rental period and must be paid by the last day of that month. Invoices not paid by the last day of the month will automatically incur a flat monthly $50.00 surcharge. This charge of $50.00 will occur on all outstanding debts.

Example: Invoices for accommodation in July will be issued to residents at the beginning of July and must be paid by the end of July. Invoices for July not paid by the end of July will incur the $50.00 outstanding debt surcharge.

Payment of Fees

Residents will be invoiced monthly via the university debtor system.

  1. All residents will receive a monthly invoice on or about the 1st of each month. The invoice is for the current month's rental period, e.g. invoices for June are issued on or about the 1st of June, invoices for July are issued on or about the 1st July, etc.
  2. Invoices must be paid by the last day of each month. If the last day falls on a weekend the invoices must be paid by the Friday before the last day.
  3. Invoices not paid by the last day of the month will automatically incur a flat monthly charge of $50.00. This charge of $50.00 will apply on all outstanding debts, e.g. invoices for accommodation had in June will be issued to residents at the beginning of June and must be paid by the 30th June. Invoices for June not paid by the 30th June will incur the $50.00 outstanding debt surcharge.
  4. There are five ways for residents to pay their Monash Residential Services (MRS) invoice for accommodation and associated services. They are explained in detail at the bottom of each invoice residents receive. Residents can pay by:
    • Cash or EFTPOS (take your invoice to the Cashier's Office Level 2 Building C)
    • B Pay
    • via the Internet
    • via the Telephone
    • via the Post (this method is not recommended as the cheque may not arrive before the last business day of the month)
  5. Arrangements can also be made to have fees automatically deducted from a credit card account.

Termination of Agreement

An Agreement can only be ended before the final date due to exceptional circumstances, subject to 4 weeks written notice being given, and a replacement resident being found. Where approval is given, the residency fee may be altered retrospectively for the length of time in residence. Where approval is not given the residency fees must be paid to the end of the Agreement period.
