Finland

Visa:  Exchange students planning to remain in Finland for more than 3 months must obtain a Resident's Permit from the Finnish Consulate-General in Sydney before leaving Australia.  This can take 8-10 weeks.

Level:  Undergraduate and postgraduate 
Language:  English and Swedish - for historical reasons it does not teach in Finnish

Semester Dates:
Autumn semester:  early September - mid December
Spring semester:    mid January - mid May

Full Time Study Load: 30 ECTS per semester
Other:  Hanken is the top business school in Finland.  Although it is primarily a business school it also teaches a wide range of humanities, social science and law disciplines and offers access to units at other Helsinki universities (see below).

Exchange students can also take units from other Helsinki universities under the JOO Studies Program.

 
University of Helsinki
This is one of four European universities which are student exchange partners in the Global Environmental Journalism Initiative (GEJI).  Further information can be found on the GEJI website.
Faculties: Arts - Journalism only
Level: Undergraduate and postgraduate

How to apply: Monash students are selected by the Journalism department and then complete the Monash Abroad exchange application.

Travel grants: Students selected for the GEJI exchange will receive a special travel grant of $8,500 funded by the Australian Government.  The grant will be paid by Monash Abroad befoe students commence the program.  GEJI exchange students will not be eligible for the usual Monash Abroad travel grant.
