Postcard from Sunway campus in Malaysia
G'day lah
Ever since high school, I've been keen to travel the world, and studying at Monash has allowed me to do this while still completing my degree.
I'm currently in second year and am doing a semester of my engineering/science double degree at the Sunway campus in Kuala Lumpur through the Study Abroad Program.
I've been able to explore fascinating new places, meet new people and push myself to be more confident and independent.
Malaysia is a beautiful place, one of great smells, sights and tastes. The food is excellent, cheap and plentiful -- as long as you like Asian food.
Little things like not having to travel long distances to and from uni make everyday life so different.
The locals here are very friendly -- many have visited or studied in Australia and are keen to share their fond memories.
I've also enjoyed the freedom and independence of living on my own, doing things like handling my own finances.
Some of my most memorable experiences have been touring the country, which offers a different experience at each stop.
I've been go-carting in Langkawi, jet-skiing in Pankor, climbed Penang hill, eaten in the Kuala Lumpur Tower's revolving restaurant and been to Bintangor for a Malay wedding and a Chinese birthday party.
This has been an experience like no other. I can say with complete confidence that it's something I won't ever forget or regret.
