Monash Abroad travel grants

Most students who are accepted on an short term International Study Program receive a Monash Abroad travel grant

The travel grants range from $500 - $2,500 depending on the length of the program and the amount of study undertaken overseas - see the table below.

Exceptions

A small number of students who go on short term international study programs are not eligible for Monash Abroad travel grants, usually because they are receiving other financial assistance.   The exceptions include:

  • Students who are citizens of the country to which they are going.  (They may be allowed to participate by the faculty running the program but will not receive a Monash Abroad travel grant.)
  • Students who receive other substantial financial assistance from Monash University for their overseas study eg faculty scholarships or grants. These will be assessed on a case by case basis.
  • Students who do two consecutive overseas programs will receive one travel grant at the higher applicable rate eg a student who does a two week study tour in Europe followed by a six program at Prato will receive a grant of $1,000.

Students who receive OS-HELP loans are still eligible for the normal Monash Abroad travel grant.
