Exchange student - Robbie Frawley (text version)
Robbie Frawley talks about his experience as an exchange student to Bishop's University in Canada.
What was the best part of your exchange experience?
Definitely the traveling. It was just a lot of fun traveling and meeting up with friends to travel across to the West of Canada. I went to Vancouver Island and through the Rockies. Just random little things and random people you meet when you travel. We got stay on a farm with some mates we met and Nova Scotia , down into the States to Boston and to New York, just travelling. Just tried to travel every weekend. Loved that side of it.
Has the experience changed the way you view the world?
It is really interesting meeting different people from different cultures and seeing that everyone is pretty similar in that regard, especially your own age group. You can pretty much travel with whoever and you'll find the same similarities. Maybe a bit more independent, you realise that you can deal with a lot of situations that perhaps you wouldn't have thought you could a few years earlier.
What advice would you give to someone considering going on exchange?
I'd say definitely do it. Go over there and give it a go. You'll probably love it and even if you don't you'll probably learn more from the bad experiences than you do from the good ones so I think it is win win. And you get to travel and see the world so definitely just do it, jump in there.
