Undergraduate prize for creative writing - Win $4000

Monash University in conjunction with the Emerging Writers’ Festival is pleased to present the Monash Undergraduate Prize for Creative Writing. The Prize is open to undergraduate students from all universities across Australia.

Any student enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Australia may enter (this includes international campuses of Australian universities).

All forms of creative writing will be accepted, including short stories, non-fiction narative and narrative verse. Submissions should be between 1500 - 3000 words.

Judges include Hannah Kent (Burial Rights), Melinda Harvey (Monash University) and Julia Carlomagno (Scribe Publishing).

  • First prize: $4000
  • Highest placed Monash student: $1000

Closing date: 15 April 2013.

Winners will be announced at the 2013 Emerging Writers’ Festival and receive festival tickets and a paid publication opportunity in The Emerging Writer.
