Eligibility
Main route of entry
Applicants
must be first year students or students undertaking the majority of a first
year load - at least three quarters of the units you are enrolled in for 2010
must be first-year level units. For example, you should be enrolled in at
least three first-year units out of a normal four-unit part-time load in 2010;
or enrolled in at least six first-year units out of a normal full-time load
of eight units in 2010.
Applicants
apply in their first year and participate in the program in their second
year.
Although
most students at the time of their application will be first year
undergraduate Monash university students, mature aged students and students
from other centres for higher learning may also be eligible (see below)
The program
involves a compulsory three-day residential camp in mid February and
compulsory attendance at eight evening (2.5 hour) forums held monthly on
Tuesday nights. Participation in other events during the year is voluntary.
Other routes of entry
Students
interested in applying for a position in the Vice Chancellor's Ancora Imparo
Student Leadership program who do not meet the basic criteria may still be
eligible if they are:
- A student in their final year at Monash College who
will be graduating into a second year course at a Victorian campus of
Monash University
- A student undertaking post secondary studies at TAFE
or other centres for higher learning who will be transferring into
second year at a Victorian campus of Monash University
- A mature aged student who is currently enrolled in
the first year of an undergraduate degree and who has not undertaken
university level studies in the past ten years and who will be enrolled
at a Victorian campus of Monash University in the second year of their
degree.
- A student undertaking a Diploma of Foundation Studies
at Gippsland Campus of Monash University who will be graduating into a
second year course at a Victorian campus of Monash University.
Selection Criteria
Selection
will be based on the following:
- personal response to the question on leadership
- school and community activities
- referee's recommendation
- interview (for short-listed applicants)
