Nanovic – Nanotechnology Victoria

Nanotechnology Victoria is a company developed to invest in R&D, commercialisation and infrastructure in nanotechnology of benefit to the Victorian and Australian economy. It has seed funding of A$12 million from the Victorian State Government and A$16 million of contributions from its Members (Monash University, Swinburne University of Technology, RMIT University and CSIRO).  . Nanotechnology Victoria commenced operations in 2004.

Nanotechnology Victoria acts as a catalyst for the development of nanoscience capability in Victoria, and for the transfer of nanotechnology-based innovations into Victorian and Australian industry.  It has 6 staff and project activities in a number of sectors, including textile nanotechnology, innovative consumer products, defence materials and pharmaceutical devices. 

In 2004, Nanotechnology Victoria announced a $2.1 million joint investment with Monash University and Swinburne University of Technology to develop a new generation of biological diagnostic devices based on nanoarrays.  Nanotechnology Victoria is also an active participant in the development of nanotechnology awareness, policy, regulatory framework, and educational support.  For further information, visit our website: www.nanovic.com.au.
