Public transport concession card
Many Monash students are eligible for a Victorian public transport student concession card
This card gets you cheaper public transport fares.
New and continuing students
If you are eligible, you can download a transport concession form in WES
Applications open 30 January 2012.
Take your form, which will have all your details, including a photo, to one of the locations below to get your card:
Eligibility
You are eligible for a public transport student concession card if you are:
- An Australian citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Residency Visa
- A student with refugee status
- A student with an Australian Development Scholarship (i.e. AusAID student)
You must also be either:
- A full-time, undergraduate student (min 0.375 EFTSL per semester)
- Attending a school/college/institution as part of an approved overseas exchange program. Your Monash course title must have the word EXCHANGE
You are not eligible for a public transport student concession card if you are:
- A New Zealand citizen with a Special Category Visa (you must have an Australian Permanent Residency Visa)
- A postgraduate or PhD student
- An International student and your course title doesn't have EXCHANGE
- An off-campus learning or distance education student
- Enrolled in a course which is less than 10 weeks long
- Enrolled part-time (ie. less than 0.375 EFTSL per semester)
Myki
Myki is the new public transport payment system which may eventually replace Metcard across all forms of public transport.
Myki will waive their card fee if you take your Myki application form and transport concession form to the train station at the same time.
