Collaborative Research Support Scheme

Scheme Aim and Objectives

The Collaborative Research Support Scheme (CRSS) is jointly funded by Monash University and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) to encourage the development of collaborative research between the two organisations in priority areas.

The CRSS has undergone a review for Round 5 with a number of changes implemented to previous rounds. The scheme will continue to support the career development of Early Career Researchers by funding two Post Doctoral Fellowships to work on two major projects in areas jointly identified by Monash and CSIRO. Projects will be expected to have a nanoscience focus with utilisation of the facilities at the Synchrotron and/or The Monash Centre for Nanofabrication.

The Monash/CSIRO CRSS offers a very substantive investment in a top-shelf fellowship, tenable over three years. The intention is the securing of the highest quality post-doctoral research fellows by searching both nationally and internationally for suitable candidates.

Funding

Funding for each project will be up to $150,000 per year for three years.

Submission Requirements

The funding round will have a two stage application proccess requiring an Expression of Interest and invited Detailed Research Proposal for short listed applications.

Expressions of Interest for Round 5 grants are now being accepted.

• An original signed Expression of Interest (max 4 pages) plus two copies must be submitted to the Monash Research Office AND an electronic version emailed to Stephanie.Helm@adm.monash.edu.au by the closing date of Friday 20th March 2009.
• Curriculum Vitae (max 3 pages) of the nominated early career post doctoral fellow must accompany the Expression of Interest document.
• The Expression of Interest must have the full support of the Head of School / Department and the Faculty Associate Dean Research (Monash) and the Chief of the relevant Division (CSIRO).
• A signed Monash Research Office coversheet must also be completed and attached to the Expression of Interest.

LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Projects that are shortlisted will be invited to submit a Detailed Proposal (further instructions will be provided at the time of invitation).
