Cooperative Research CentresMonash University is committed to strengthening its ties with the broader community to maximise the potential benefits of our research activities. Cooperative Research Centres (CRCs) are an excellent vehicle for facilitating knowledge transfer. Monash is a strong supporter of the CRC program and is a participant in more than 18 CRCs. Senator Kim Carr, the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, recently announced the 11th funding round of the CRC Program. The Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Program provides funding to build critical mass in research ventures between end-users (including the civil society and the industry) and researchers which tackle clearly-articulated, major challenges for the end-users. CRCs should pursue solutions to these challenges that are innovative, of high impact and capable of being effectively deployed by the end-users. Following a review earlier in 2008, the CRC program has undergone significant changes. Key changes to the program include:
There is no specific limit to funding available for each new CRC under the CRC Program however the review of the CRC Program recommended a maximum of $45million over the life of a Centre.
