Prof. Constant Mews will be well known to Monash researchers. He is a staff member of the School of Historical Studies, where he is Director of the Centre for Studies in Religion and Theology, and is currently pursuing a range of research projects on the interreligious and intellectual history of medieval Europe.

Prof Mews is also a current member of the HCA panel on the ARC's College of Experts, and he will draw on this experience to discuss the ins and outs of grant writing for the ARC. He will cover:

  1. developing the broad ideas of the proposal
  2. solo or collaboration — pros and cons and
  3. developing a well-written, tightly focused proposal

His seminar entitled "Effective Grant Writing" will be held on Thursday 8 October from 11am-12 noon, in room EH4, Building 60 at Monash University, Clayton.

"You need to show that your project is specific and do-able, but also has big implications. The best technique is to have your text read and commented on by people you trust, from a wide range of backgrounds, especially from outside your discipline."

This seminar will be followed by helpful breakout sessions from 12 noon to 1pm which will focus on particular issues.
