Professor Ian Smith knows the NHMRC Grant system inside out.
He has achieved continual funding since 1984, has been a NHMRC Fellow though 5 rounds, a panel member for Biochemistry for five years and is Deputy Dean Research (MN&HS) at Monash University.
His practical seminar on "Achieving Success with NHMRC Project Grants" will be held in Room S2, Building 25, at Monash University, Clayton on 7 October 2009, from 10-11am.
The seminar will cover:
- The importance of planning, and moving from "ideas" to great concepts and insights.
- Proposal writing tips, from objectives through to study design and the final proofreading stage.
- Information about the grant process, peer review, rebuttal and application review.
- Basic information about the NHMRC and Monash's NHMRC grant successes.
- A host of practical tips and advice based on Prof. Smith's wealth of experience.
