The Discovery Projects scheme provides funding for research projects that can be undertaken by individual researchers or research teams. A variety of fellowships are offered under the scheme to nurture the talents of Australia's most promising early-career researchers and support established researchers.

HOW TO APPLY: Step by step instructions

1. Obtain a copy of the key ARC information documents

2. Keep up to date with Monash Research Office information sessions and updates

3. Read the ARC rules and instructions

It is critical that you read through the Funding Rules and Instructions to Applicants to understand the application process and requirements.

4. Getting started in GAMS

If you do not have a GAMS ID and password, complete the request for GAMS User Account.

Once you have logged on, remember to update your personal details if necessary, by clicking on the yellow 'My Details' tab.

5. Complete the application form in GAMS

Please ensure you consult the Monash tip sheets, FAQs and budget information when completing the application.

6. Validate and submit the form

Complete the validation check of the application form. Once the form has been validated successfully, click on the ‘Local Submit’ button and print a copy of the application.

7. Print remaining parts of the proposal

Print the additional text and insert the pages into the correct place in the application form.

8. Complete the ARC Certification Proforma

Obtain original, handwritten, signatures and submit one copy of the certification to the Monash Research Office with your draft application. This form must be signed by ALL researchers named at A3.1 of the proposal and their respective HoDs or equivalent.

Note: You do NOT need to obtain a signature from the DVC(R). The Monash Research Office will arrange for this.

9. Complete the Research Office coversheet

Ensure this is signed by the relevant Head of School and Associate/Deputy Dean (Research), and attached to your draft application.

10. Submit one full copy of the application to the Monash Research Office by 4 February 2009

  1. One copy of the application for review
  2. Signed ARC Certification Proforma
  3. Completed and signed Monash Research Office cover sheet

11. Final Submission

Following the review of your application, you will be asked to provide the Monash Research Office with two single-sided copies and 2 double-sided copies of your final application. Please ensure the application is numbered and the total number of pages inserted where indicated on page one.

If you wish to request the exclusion of particular individuals as assessors of your Proposal you must complete and submit a Request Not to Assess form.
