Transferring between AECs

Instructions

For Researchers

  • Request for Transfer of Animal Ethics Approvals must be completed within 3 months of relocation of investigator.
  • Approvals include Standard Operating Procedures and Breeding Colonies.
  • Request form must be submitted to both transferring Animal Ethics Committee (AEC; approvals transferred from) and receiving AEC (approvals transferred to) for notifications prior to any scientific work involving animals and/or animal transfer.
  • If there are any changes to staff/students listed in the original application, minor amendment form to be submitted to receiving committee following transfers.
  • Any Approvals not being transferred must be closed off using the Monash Completed Project Report Form for Monash University approved projects.
  • Animals do not need to be transferred immediately following transfer of approval; a minor amendment outlining new location/s can be submitted to the receiving AEC after the transfer of approvals(s). The new housing location must be discussed with local animal facility manager. 

For Transferring AEC

  • Transferring AEC will forward all related files including hard copies of approvals and/or electronic documents to receiving AEC.  

For Receiving AEC

  • Receiving AEC does not review or re-approve the applications, form is for notification. Approved applications can be accessed from AEC secretariat by receiving AEC members on request.
