Notification of off-campus field work form ( doc 112kb)
"Field work" is defined as: a site that is not listed on a Monash University Scientific Procedures Premises License (usually not a Monash University campus or premise).
Monash University bears responsibilities with respect to the activities of members of the University. Therefore Monash must be informed of, and approve, involvement of staff and students in projects involving animal use, regardless of where this occurs.
Research Investigators who initiate or collaborate in work off-campus must complete a Notification form and submit this to their Monash AEC. Copies of any animal ethics approvals obtained elsewhere must be attached.
Refer to the MUAWC Guidelines in the conduct of field work: including off-campus, overseas, and collaborative research projects involving Monash University personnel.
Interstate Licensing Requirements
Researchers who wish to conduct animal research in States and Territories other than Victoria must meet the particular State/Territory licensing requirements. If the work involves the use of animals interstate or overseas Researchers are advised to Contact Us immediately as there may be a requirement for additional state licensing to be undertaken by Monash University.
Animal ethics approval from Monash University does not automatically allow research to be conducted in other Australian States/Territories. You may be required to apply for further approval from an animal ethics committee based in another State/Territory. Additional approval or licensing can be a lengthy and expensive process.
Researchers conducting animal research in States and Territories other than Victoria must meet the particular State/Territory reporting requirements and deadlines.
