Who can apply for Research Funding?

In general, all Monash staff, whether full time or fractional, and whether paid or honorary staff (formally appointed under the procedures as set out in the Monash University Staff Handbook), are eligible to apply for external funds.

For internal schemes, the over-riding criterion is to maximise the research outcomes in the light of the objectives of each scheme. The final decision on whether honorary, fractional or contract staff are eligible to apply should be at the discretion of the Faculty, as they are responsible for the selection and ranking processes for the internal schemes.

Where honorary staff are deemed by the Faculty to be eligible to apply, it is desirable that this application be in conjunction with another researcher, possibly an early career researcher, with the honorary staff member as second-named investigator. Where an honorary staff member is applying as the first-named investigator, he/she must have a close association with the Department from which he/she is applying and a demonstrated track record in that Department.
