Ethics Clearances

Ethics clearances are required for all research work involving animals, humans, and/or biosafety and ionising radiation.

Ethics clearances must be obtained by the researcher prior to commencing the research. Some granting bodies do not release funding until they are advised that ethics clearances have been obtained.

In the case of grants requiring human ethics clearances the Standing Committee on Ethics in Research Involving Humans has endorsed the approach of not releasing funds into accounts unless ethics approval has been granted. The Research Office will not seek account codes from Grants and Donations until evidence of ethics approval for these projects has been provided to the Office.
