Overview

Society and knowledge are being fundamentally changed by technology. This exhibition will demonstrate to researchers and students from all disciplines ways to master technology and harness the massive volume of information and data generated through business, government and academia - translating this into research, education, and workplace outcomes.

The huge data sets being produced and the enormous processing power available through local and global compute facilities are enabling the development of innovative research methods that reveal new understanding. New techniques have evolved for effective data management, remote computation and even the operation of remote instruments, dramatically increasing the options for researchers. Likewise, new collaboration technologies mean remote teams can work together in ways not previously possible.

The Monash e-Research Centre supports Monash researchers by harnessing the resources of the IT Services Division, the Library and computer scientists in the Faculty of Information Technology to deliver and support these emerging technologies.

Staff at this exhibition will highlight a range of practical tools for real-time global collaborative research and smaller/niche research. They will demonstrate how to transform research by engaging with High Performance Computing systems, visualisation services, as well as data storage, management and processing tools.
