Commercialisation Project

The core unit “Commercialisation Project” provides students with a practical experience of the pathways that lead from scientific innovation to the creation of wealth. The unit is a research based unit in which students work alongside medical researchers to explore the commercialization potential of their scientific research. Students apply their general understanding of science from their undergraduate study and their knowledge from the level 4 business and law units to a relevant practical situation. Students gain first hand experience in the wide range of roles involved in converting science to wealth at a personal, enterprise and economy wide level.

The projects may involve interaction with patent attorneys, lawyers, venture capitalists, business managers and Monash commercialization staff, providing the student with the opportunity to build a useful network of contacts. In some cases, students may have the opportunity to see the project through to the full commercialization of the research, possibly providing post graduation career opportunities.Full handbook synopsis appears in course finder.
