Green Steps @ Uni

"Increased my confidence immensely. I now have the tools and knowledge to work towards environmental change." - Griffith University, 2007.

"Green Steps has made me more confident to go into an organisation and know how to make changes. I was worried I didn't know enough to come across as knowledgeable in this area but after the course I feel as though I have gained the skills I need to feel more confident." - Student, Griffith University, 2010.

Green Steps @ Uni is an award-winning hands on program that bridges the gap between knowledge acquired at university and skills required to create positive environmental change.

The Green Steps @ Uni program consists of two phases: 1) training, and 2) practical work experience carrying out a sustainability project for an organisation. Depending on which of our upcoming @ Uni programs you apply for, this will be either an on-campus project and/or a 15 day internship. Attendance at all training days and completion of an internship or on-campus sustainability project is required for successful completion of the program.

Upon completing the Green Steps @ Uni program, you will receive a certificate and become part of the Green Steps alumni network of over 700 graduates around Australia working in a wide range of industries and workplaces.

Green Steps is free to successful applicants but places are limited and the application process is highly competitive. Our typical course intake is 12 - 16 people.

The following universities currently offer the Green Steps @ Uni program:

  1. Monash University (Melbourne);
  2. Griffith University (Brisbane);
  3. Charles Sturt University (Wagga Wagga);
  4. La Trobe University (Melbourne);
  5. Macquarie University (Sydney);
  6. Australian National University (Canberra);
  7. Warwick University (Coventry, UK).

Note: Green Steps @ Uni is only available to students at our current host universities. If you are interested in the possibility of a Green Steps @ Uni program at your university in future, please register your interest.
