Green Steps - University Course Details and Applications

COURSES HAVE NOW BEEN COMPLETED FOR 2009.

If you would like to be kept up to date on 2010 courses, please email your details to emma.grace@adm.monash.edu.au.

Course dates and application timelines are now available for the following Semester 2 2009 Green Steps university courses:

Griffith University, Brisbane and Gold Coast

Macquarie University, Sydney

The Australian National University, Canberra

To be eligible for Green Steps you must be enrolled at the host tertiary institution or, for the regional courses, enrolled at any university in that particular state.

To apply for Green Steps:

Please email:

(1) a cover letter explaining why you would like to do the course,

(2) your Curriculum Vitae and

(3) the task outlined below to the university contact by 5pm on the date shown in the 'Course Details' section.

Include these elements in one Microsoft Word document, with your name as the file name (eg. first_last.doc). Please ensure that the entire application document is no larger than 300kb, and that you clearly identify which Green Steps course you are applying for in the subject line of the email. Applications that do not conform to this format will not be accepted.

The task: Write a 1 page letter to the CEO of an imaginary company. The purpose of the letter is to convince the CEO that her/his company should take its environmental responsibilities more seriously, including the establishment of a Green Office Program.

Selection Process:

The highest quality written applicants will be offered an interview, after which the final group of 12-14 will be selected.

Emphasis is given to sourcing students from a range of disciplines, backgrounds and experiences. This ensures a diverse group, which improves learning outcomes and reflects the interdisciplinary and intergenerational nature of effective responses to environmental issues.

This rigorous selection process ensures the selection of highly motivated and committed students who will leave Green Steps ready to enter the environment sector.
