Geza Benke is a Senior Research Fellow with MonCOEH and is an Occupational Hygienist. Geza graduated in physics in 1978 from the University of Melbourne. He subsequently completed a Master of Applied Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Melbourne and a PhD in Epidemiology at Monash University. After working in state government and OHS consulting, he was appointed Radiation Protection Officer for Monash University in 1992. In 1994 Geza was appointed Research Fellow in the Unit of Occupational and Environmental Health. He has been involved in the Healthwise study, Lead and Cancer study, Morpheus study, INTEROCC study and the ECRHS study. In 2008 Geza was President of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists. His principal research interests include occupational/environmental epidemiology exposure assessment, exposure assessment methodology, occupational cancer and respiratory epidemiology.
