Helen is currently employed within Monash University's School of Rural Health as a Research officer. Projects of main interest to her, at the moment, are the Mobile Wound Care project, being conducted in collaboration with Latrobe Community Health Services. Helen is also Project officer with Monash University's collaboration with Joanna Briggs Institute, to establish a Chronic Disease Management node. She is responsible for the maintenance of the RURAL database of bibliographic material pertinent to rural health, available online through Informit and th ECHIDNA database.
Her main interests involve the use of databases to search for literature relevant to research or the use of databases for the analysis of data in collaborative projects.

Helen's past employment has been as a secondary teacher, (Mathematics, Science and Biology)
Past employment with Monash University has been as a Research Assistant working in the field of neuropsychology and Parkinson’s disease, until the researchers progressed to the University of Melbourne
Helen then worked in the Latrobe Valley region as executive assistant to the manager of Jeeralang power station, amongst other high level administrative positions.
Since returning to employment with Monash University’s department of Rural and Indigenous Health, she has been involved the Footprints Forward project, interviews of breast cancer patients in rural settings and assisting several PhD students in the formatting and assemblage of their thesis.
She has skills with databases, especially Endnote, Access and SPSS, ABS tablebuilder, mapping programs, and Leximancer.
The Mobile Wound Care TM (MWC) is a web-based electronic system and provides a means of data collection to identify the extent and profile of wounds in the Gippsland region.
RURAL bibliographic database covers a range of areas including rural medical practices, indigenous peoples' health, rural and remote area nursing, the practice and educational needs of health care providers, in particular medical practitioners and nurses. There is international coverage of journal articles, some conference and discussion papers. Echidna is an electronic database of information relating to localities, health services, demographics and other health related indicators for communities across rural Victoria
