Biography

Dr Rodney Martin works in the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University as a Lecturer.

He graduated as a mechanical engineer and spent 18 years in design and manufacturing roles, principally in industries concerned with defence equipment, automotive products and electrical equipment. He was general manager of a power electronics manufacturing company for a period of three years.

The wide industrial experience led to a practical approach to problems in production control, inventory control, work scheduling and so on. It also led to skills in modelling these problems with computer solutions which, in turn, led to the university research environment.

Teaching experience started with the combination of applied mechanics and marketing at RMIT, and he joined Monash in 1992 to teach and research in the area of operations management.
