Biography

Terri-Anne is a Lecturer in Health, Physical Education and Outdoor Education teacher development within the Faculty of Education at Monash University. After completing her undergraduate degree, Terri-Anne taught for the Tasmanian Education Department in a number of schools. She then completed a master degree in Sport and Recreation Managment while  on a teaching fellowship at Springfield College in Massachusettes. Terri-Anne then returned Tasmania,  where she accepted a postion lecturing postion at the University of Tasmania where she wrote the program for the outdoor education undergraduate degree, taught in the Human Movement Program and studied a masters of education with honours degree that was focused on curriculum design, implemetation and evaluation.

More recently, Terri-Anne is waitng for her Phd to be marked.   The Phd focused on using a social cultural approach to research with interests in preparing pre-service teachers to teach with effectiveness and professionalism. Terri-Anne is a committed researcher and has used a number of research methodologies.  Terri-Anne's Phd thesis focused on the use of experiential education to examine how pre-service outdoor education teacher learn to teach and how they constructed their teaching identities through facing personal fears and other challenges when teaching in the outdoors.

 

 

     

     

Research & Supervision Interests

    • Outdoor and Physical Teacher Education through Experiential Education. Implementation of productive pedagogy (QLD), qualtiy teaching (NSW) or Principle of Learning and Teaching (VIC) by pre-service OE and PE teachers to achieve a quality outdoor/physical education learning experience for their students.
    • Recreation and eco-tourism management - quality outdoor, adventure or sport program planning
