Dr. Leonie Kronborg is Coordinator and Senior Lecturer in Postgraduate Studies of Gifted Education, Faculty of Education, Monash University. She established the Postgraduate Certificate of Education (gifted education) course in 1996 and teaches subjects in gifted education in the Master of Education and Master of Education specialising in gifted education courses as well as supervising research students in gifted education. She also teaches pre-service teachers in gifted education at Clayton campus.
Leonie co-ordinates the Gifted Education Advisory Service for gifted and talented children at the Institute of Human Development and Counselling at the Krongold Centre.
Leonie is Past President of the Australian Association for the Education of the Gifted and Talented and a Past President of the Victorian Association for Gifted and Talented Children. She is an elected Australian delegate of World Council for Gifted and Talented (2007-2009); re-elected (2009-2011). Additionally, Leonie has been elected to the Executive of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (2009-2013).
Leonie has a particular interest in talent development, education for gifted and talented students, and gifted females. Leonie's doctoral studies were on "Talent Development of Eminent Australian Women".
In 2004, Leonie and colleague, Dr. Margaret Plunkett evaluated the Select Entry Acceleration Learning (SEAL) Programs for the Victorian Department of Education and Training.
In 2005, Leonie and Dr. Margaret Plunkett evaluated the Extended Curriculum Program at Melbourne Girls Grammar School.
In 2010, Leonie and Dr. Margaret Plunkett investigated teacher attitudes, teacher beliefs and teaching practices at a new select entry high school, Nossal High School.
Research interests focus on gifted and talented individuals. Special interests within this field include: evaluation of curriculum for gifted and talented students, talent development of females, in particular, eminent Australian women, young gifted and talented children and their education, identification of gifted and talented children, professional development for teachers of the gifted and talented, curriculum for the gifted and talented, creativity, talent development, gifted females and gifted children experiencing learning disabilities.
