Biography

Associate Professor Angela Carbone is the Associate Director in the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor(Learning and Teaching) at Monash University. Prior to this role Angela was the Director of Education Quality in the Faculty of Information Technology at Monash University.

 

Angela is a proven inspirational leader in educational excellence. She is the co-founder and Director of the Monash Educational Excellence Research Group. She holds a respected position in computing education research both nationally and internationally. She was a co-founding member of the Australasian Chapter of the ACM Special Interest Group in Computer Science Education, Chair of Australian Computing Education conference in 2012 and  2013, executive member of the ACDICT Learning and Teaching Academy, and assessor for the Australian National Awards, iAwards and CORE awards. Angela has a significant track record of building and leading effective learning and teaching teams  being the recipient of both Vice Chancellor’s and several national teaching awards including the Prime Minister's Award for University Teacher of the Year and the Australian Award for University Teaching in the category of Computing and Information Services.  She has led several externally funded projects of national significance in the field of Computing Education and Higher Education. In 2010 she was awarded a Teaching Fellowship by the Australian Council of Learning and Teaching and in 2012 Angela was the recipient of a National Senior Teaching Fellowship by the Australian Government.

 

Angela’s research areas focus on excellence in learning and teaching, student satisfaction, task design, student learning of programming and assessment models to improve academic integrity.
