Biography

Associate Professor Catherine Joyce originally trained as a clinical psychologist, and completed her PhD in the Department of Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine, Monash University, in 2005, followed by an NMHRC Public Health Fellowship, also at Monash.

Catherine is the Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Health Science and has extensive experience teaching health systems, health policy and research methods at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Her research interests focus on policy-relevant health services research, with a particular interest in the health workforce.  She is a Chief Investigator for the NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Medical Workforce Dynamics. This includes the MABEL study (Medicine in Australia: Balancing Employment and Life), a longitudinal cohort study of  the dynamics of the Australian medical workforce participation. She is also a Chief Investigator on a study of new methods of citizen engagement in health policy development, funding by an ARC Linkage Grant.

She is a Fellow of the Australian Health Workforce Institute and a member of the Health Services Research Association of Australia and New Zealand.
