Nicole is an early career researcher with 16 publications in total, 6 of which are first author publications, with five in high impact journals (one in Blood 10.555, two in Journal of Immunology 6.068, two in Journal of Biological Chemistry 5.854 and one in European Journal of Immunology 4.876). Nicole is a post-doctoral research fellow in the Centre for Innate Immunity and Infectious Diseases at Monash Institute of Medical Research, Clayton. Nicole is working to elucidate structural and mechanistic characteristics of type I interferon receptor signalling. In pursuing aspects of this project, Nicole has established collaborative links with arguably Australia’s most prominent protein crystallographer, Prof Jamie Rossjohn and Dr Hugh Reid of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Monash University, Clayton. This project has benefited significantly from Nicole being awarded an Early Career Development Award from the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences for 2008 which contributed to the generation of data in support of a successful NHMRC grant for this project (2010-2012). Since, and including her PhD studies, the research projects that Nicole has worked on have all had a common thread, focusing on the investigation of protein-protein interactions with the view to the development of improved immunotherapeutics. Nicole has a continued interest in this field.
