Biography

John works in the Faculty of Education at Monash University as a Lecturer. He is a Registered Educational and Developmental Psychologist, Registered Counselling Psychologist, Registered Teacher (Victoria).

Research & Supervision Interests

    AREAS:

    • Primary interest: "styles" as a way of enhancing the study of individual differences, specifically- "Ways of Thinking" (Cognitive Styles), "Ways of Knowing" (Epistemological Styles), and "Ways of Doing" (WOD).
    • Secondary interest: what IDs have to offer learning, wellbeing, adjustment, and organisations. -----------------------------------

    THEORETICAL:

    • The nature, modelling, measurement, and construct validity of IDs and related constructs, as well as Cultural and Linguistic impacts.

    FACTORS & VARIABLES of particular interest in relation to IDs:

    • Anxiety, Depression, Happiness, Self Efficacy, Locus of Control, Coping, Resilience, Bullying, Addiction, Culture, Abilities, Personality, Cognitive (Thinking) Style, Creativity, Teaching and Learning styles, Occupational Interests, within an orientation of Positive Psychology (Psychology of Human Strengths)and CBT/Schema Therapy

    METHODOLOGICAL, TECHNICAL, & STATISTICAL INTERESTS:

    • Multivariate Correlational Psychology, Psychometrics, Scale Development, Factor Analysis, Structural Equation Modelling, Cluster Analysis, Circumplex Representation and the Psycholexical Hypothesis. Qualitative Construct Validation, Sequential Mixed Methods, Person Centered Analysis
