Dr Antony Vinh is a research fellow within the Department of Pharmacology. Dr Vinh completed his PhD in pharmacology, focusing on the role of the hexapeptide angiotensin fragment, angiotensin IV, in atherosclerosis and endothelial dysfunction at Monash University. He then pursued postdoctoral training at Emory University, Atlanta, USA, under the mentorship of Prof David Harrison, investigating the role of adaptive immunity and T cells during the development of hypertension.
In 2010, Dr Vinh was recruited back to Monash Pharmacology as a Monash Larkins Fellow to continue his research on the expanding field of T cells and hypertension, with a particular focus on identifying the functional contribution of T cells to organ dysfunction associated with hypertension. The ultimate goal of his research is to understand how hypertension becomes an immunologic disorder, and identify novel immune targets to treat inflammation associated with hypertension. Dr Vinh currently holds a Monash Larkin Fellowship and Heart Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship and is funded by the Ramaciotti Foundation and Monash University.
