Biography

Shanhong works in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences at Monash University as a Research Fellow.

Shanhong was a clinical doctor having worked in a medical university hospital in China from 1983 to 1995. He started his career as a full time researcher in June 1995 when he was a postdoctoral research fellow at University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) then in 1998 University of Texas Medical Branch  at Galveston (UTMB) in USA. His studies in the USA were focused on the cardiovascular effects of sex hormones. In 1998 he moved to Australia from USA to assist to build-up and supervise the Hormones and Vasculature laboratory at Baker Medical Research Institute (Melbourne), the lab particularly focused on research of sex hormones and the hormonal therapy in cardiovascular physiology and disease prevention. In 2002, Shanhong worked as a scientist in Pharmacyclics Inc., a pharmaceutical company in California (USA). Since March 2003, Shanhong has worked as a research fellow and a lab supervisor in Department of Medicine at Monash University Central Clinical School. His research at this Monash school concerns to the fields of cardiovascular physiology and disease development under menopausal conditions, cardiovascular effects of sex hormones, and cardiovascular medicines, particularly phytomedicines and herbal medicines.
