Biography

Professor McLean is Director of the Pathology Board within the Central Clinical School. Her professional activities include:

  • Director of Anatomical Pathology at The Alfred hospital
  • Coordinator of the State Neuropathology Service, a specialist diagnostic service which looks at diseased muscles and nerves in collaboration with The University of Melbourne.
  • Director of the Australian Brain Bank Network. The Brain Bank stores donated brains from people with brain diseases such Alzheimers, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s. The brain tissue is accessible for both Australian and internationally based researchers.
  • Consultant Pathologist for the Australian Phenomics Network and for the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) registry
  • Head of the Anatomical Experimental Pathology Laboratory in AMREP, Dept of Medicine.
