Biography

Associate Professor Ingrid Nielsen is Associate Dean (Research and Research Training) in the Faculty of Business and Economics.

After winning the 2005 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research by an Early Career Researcher, Ingrid developed and led the faculty's Early Career Researcher Network from its inception in 2006 through to December 2009. In 2012 she was appointed Director of Research for the Department of Management.

Ingrid has a keen interest in research metrics and in 2011–2012 she was responsible for the faculty's submission to ERA 2012 across FOR 15 and each of its four-digit discipline codes.

Her research includes labour migration in Asia and Europe and work and life satisfaction in China. She is a past recipient of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences Australia-China Scholarship and has been a visiting scholar at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Ingrid has published in many leading management and area-specialist journals, including recent A* and A ranked papers in British Journal of Industrial Relations, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Urban Studies and Journal of Urban Affairs.

Her research and supervision interests include management of international labour migrants, life satisfaction, job satisfaction and the design of organisational incentives, evolving business practice in China and quantitative research methods.
