Biography

My main area of specialisation is the history of philosophy (c. 1650-1750), with a particular focus on women philosophers of the early modern period. I am currently engaged in a large ARC-funded project on the seventeenth-century feminist philosopher, Mary Astell (1666-1731). As part of this project, I am preparing a modernised edition of Astell’s The Christian Religion as Profess’d by a Daughter of the Church of England for The Other Voice in Early Modern Europe: Toronto series and Iter Publishing. I am also completing a monograph on Astell’s philosophy, with the aim of examining her epistemology, theology, metaphysics, feminism, and politics from the point of view of her theory of virtue.
