Dr Elizabeth Gardiner - Researcher Profile

Biography

Elizabeth works at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases/Department of Clinical Haematology at Monash University AMREP on the Alfred Hospital site as an NHMRC Senior Research Fellow. She is a full time protein biochemist and  researcher in the Systems Haematology laboratory, and has a major focus on platelet-related autoimmune diseases that cause thrombocytopenia (low platelet count in the blood) such as immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT).

She has a strong interest in congenital and acquired platelet function abnormalities with particular interest in diseases that impact on platelet receptor function such as Bernard-Soulier Syndrome and Von Willebrand Disease.
