Stephen Garrett is the Studio and Program Coordinator for Drawing and the Deputy Associate Dean and Program Coordinator, Graduate Studies.
Stephen's PhD and subsequent research engages with material and spatial interventions, video projects and drawing which have been exhibited in internationally and nationally. Stephen's research and other texts on art have been published internationally and in national journals and galleries. Recent exhibitions have included The Missing (with Cate Consandine) Conical 2011; Structure for Brooklyn, Columbia Place Brooklyn, 2011; After The Gold Rush, Melbourne International Arts Festival 2009 and Gold Rush (with Marie Jeanne Hoffner), Espace Art Contemporain, France 2009. He has published writings in “Creating Elsewhere” in Back to the City. Strategies for Informal Urban Interventions, edited by Steffen Lehmann, Ostfildern-Ruit: Hatje Cantz Verlag, 2009; [re]Making the World: Drawing Space and Time, CIHA 32nd International Art History Conference Crossing Cultures, Post Graduate Poster Session, ‘Migrating Voices’, The University of Melbourne 2008; The Sad, the Mad and the Blind, British Comparative Literature Association XI International Conference, Folly, Goldsmiths College London, July 2007. He is currently working on an exhibition at Margaret Lawrence Gallery as part of the Melbourne International Arts Festival 2012.
