Karinne Ludlow has a professional background in commercial and intellectual property law, in particular in banking and finance and advising clients with respect to the legal issues arising in regard to scientific discoveries and technological development.
Since joining the Faculty of Law in 1993 Karinne has actively pursued her interest in the interdisciplinary problems of science and technology and the law, with particular emphasis on biotechnology and nanotechnology. She has written extensivley on the legal issues arising in the undertaking, commercialisation and regulation of scientific discoveries and new technologies. Her work has been cited by entities such as the Australian Law Reform Commission and Justice Kirkby, of the Australian High Court.
In 2007 Karinne was a senior author of an Australian government commissioned report analysing the readiness of Australian regulatory frameworks for the introduction of nano-products. She has also recently co-authored a report for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation on nanotechnology and food.
Karinne has also written in the areas of torts law and intellectual property.
